Would you pay more money for foods without Red Dye 40 (a synthetic food dye made from Petroleum)?

Would you pay more money for foods without Red Dye 40 (a synthetic food dye made from Petroleum)? Many companies are wondering if they too should switch to natural food dyes as opposed to cheaper synthetic food dyes such as FD&C Red dye No. 40, FC&C Blue No. 2, FD&C Green No. 3, FD &C Red No. 3, FD&C Yellow No. 5, and FD&C Yellow No. 6 and also cochineal (E120) a red dye derived from the cochineal insect, Dactylopius coccus. Some companies would have to change the way that they manufacture their foods completely and this would cost more money to produce these healthier versions clear from synthetic dyes made out of petro-chemicals. Britain has already made the switch to healthier versions because they feel that they have enough evidence to suggest that these food dyes can alter behavior. How was Britain able to make the switch so fast? Can we look at Britain's food companies and learn how to transition without losing profits? I think so. Should we keep doing what is easier and allow our children to suffer the consequences of our irresponsible ways? We have the information but we just need to move forward and do what is right and the profits will come.
I personally would pay more and would actually love to have the option of taking my children out to restaurants, ice-cream stores, and even the occasional candy store if I knew that the ingredients did not include these artificial food dyes that affect my children's behavior so badly. Please add your vote to the following poll: Would you pay more money for foods without Red Dye? (Poll is located on right side column of this website - just a little ways down after the lollipop picture) Many companies would love to get these results and you can help to make a difference. Please leave a comment as well.
